Joshua Krenus

Joshua is no stranger to business, or its community in Vancouver. During the latter part of his high school years, Krenus began working for his Fathers construction business – Common Ground. Joshua would spend four years learning site planning and management, budgeting, bidding and logistical planning – “with most new business mandating upwards of forty staff, and accepted bids reaching the low millions, you quickly learn how to become efficient and manage your time”.

After realizing that construction wasn’t his passion, Joshua ventured out to start his own business, Krenus Detailers, which was a full service auto detailing company. Six months after its inception, the business had two downtown locations and three full-time staff. “The detailing company is what really opened the doors for me. It was a tremendous local business that gave me the opportunity to meet people I would have never met otherwise”, Krenus adds.

Joshua has since sold Krenus Detailers and began his most recent venture, Alteri Insurance, in July of 2016. Since that time Joshua has been awarded the 2017 BC Business 30 Under 30 Award and continues to enjoy the everyday challenges associated with growing an insurance business.

Colin Brown

Colin is considered one of the most experienced professionals in the insurance industry and has the resume to prove it. Brown spent 22 years at ICBC, where he would start in the claims department before becoming the Deputy Chief Underwriter, and eventually, the Chief Underwriter – “I had the opportunity to work on the development and implementation of Dial-a-Claim, the Claims-Rated-Scale and both Roadstar programs.”

Colin eventually left ICBC to start Canadian Direct Insurance, one of Western Canada’s most successful insurance companies, which has been recognized for three consecutive years by J D Power as a leader in customer service. More recently, CDI was selected as one of “Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures” by Waterstone.

Brown now sits on the Board of Trustees for the BC Sports Hall of Fame, and acts as a strategic advisor to e-Brake technologies, which is a new technology company that helps insurers with the risks associated with distracted driving.

Outside of work, Colin commits his time to the rugby community: the UBC Old Boys Ravens RFC, and the BC Rugby Union. “Spending time with my family, especially the grandkids, pretty much completes the picture.” Brown adds.
