Directors & Officers Liability (D&O).
Most businesses, whether large or small, have upper level managment who are responsible for overseeing the brand, and its daily operations. A company’s exposure to legal issues arising from a third-party claimant can be considerable, especially as the business grows! The biggest concern for executives, and management, is that even though the business is it’s own entity, the accuser can name all of the directors and officers for their role (or lack thereof) in the wrongful act.
So, what does this mean? It means that if the business is sued, then one of the management staff, owners or directors can be named in a lawsuit exposing their personal assets! General liability covers the business, professional liability covers the staff, but what covers the management and executives? D&O!
Business isn’t always business. Sometimes, it’s personal.
